Each evening has its own theme. The structure is intentional: from understanding to feeling to deciding.
Physiology of labour
What happens in your body? You learn how a birth unfolds physiologically: from the first contractions to delivery. This knowledge brings calm and confidence in your own body.
Preparation, positions and pain management
Practical preparation: which positions help, how to use your breathing, and how to work together as a couple. Including exercises you can repeat at home.
Birth preferences, induction and complications
Drawing up your birth plan, what induction involves, and how to handle unexpected situations. So that even if things go differently, you know what is happening and can stay involved.
Optional 4th evening
Postpartum, newborn & breastfeeding
Do you also want to prepare for the first week after birth? The 4th evening is an optional add-on you can request separately. You choose whether you want it. The evening covers three topics: what the first postpartum week looks like, caring for your newborn, and the basics of breastfeeding. Just let us know during the course.
Who is it for?
The course is intended for pregnant women and their partners. Participating together makes the difference: your partner not only understands what is going to happen, but also knows how to truly support you.
The course is given in a group setting. Prefer a private course tailored to you, at a time of your choosing? That is possible too.
Group course
Fixed evenings, in a small group. You also learn from others' experiences.

Frequently asked questions
What do you learn in a childbirth class?
In Mirasoon's childbirth class we prepare you for the birth and the first period afterward. You learn how a birth unfolds, how breathing and positions help you cope with contractions, what choices you have around pain relief and birth place, and how your partner can support you well. We also discuss the first days with your baby, feeding, and recovery. You go home with knowledge and confidence, so you can approach your birth with more calm.
When is the best time to start a childbirth class?
Most women start around 28 to 32 weeks of pregnancy. By then you have enough time to learn and practise everything calmly, while the birth is not yet too close. Starting earlier is always fine and never a problem; we do not recommend starting later, as that leaves too little time to practise properly before the birth. At Mirasoon we tailor the timing to your pregnancy, so you are well prepared when labour begins.
Can I take the childbirth class in a group or privately?
Both are possible. In a group you meet other expectant parents, share experiences, and notice that your questions are completely normal; many people find this enjoyable and supportive. A private class gives you all the space for your own questions and a tailored schedule, at your own pace. At Mirasoon we discuss which format suits you and your partner best.
Can my partner come to the childbirth class, and how does it differ from hypnobirthing?
Yes, your partner is very welcome and actually plays an important role; we teach you together how he or she can support you during the birth. The difference with hypnobirthing: the childbirth class is a broad preparation for everything around the birth and the first days. Hypnobirthing focuses specifically on deep relaxation and releasing fear through breathing and visualisation. The two can complement each other nicely; we are happy to advise what fits you.
